The Short Version
BaynesWorld is an independent media site. We collect the minimum amount of information needed to run the site and serve you — nothing more. We don’t sell your data. We don’t share it with advertisers. We don’t run behavioral ad targeting. This policy explains what we collect, why we collect it, and what your rights are.
Who We Are
BaynesWorld is an independent news and fact-checking publication operated by Roe Baynes, based in the United States. We cover viral news stories and political claims, separating verified facts from spin and opinion.

What We Collect and Why
1. Information You Give Us Directly
Email address (newsletter signup) If you sign up for The Daily Brief or any other Baynes World newsletter, we collect your email address. We use it to send you the newsletter you signed up for. We don’t use it for anything else without your permission.
Account information (members) If you create a membership account, we collect your name, email address, and billing information. Billing details (credit card numbers, bank information) are handled entirely by our payment processors — Stripe and/or PayPal — and are never stored on our servers. We only see a transaction confirmation and last four digits.
Crypto tips and donations If you send a crypto tip, the transaction is visible on the relevant blockchain. We don’t collect personal information from crypto transactions beyond what’s publicly visible on-chain.
Store orders (WooCommerce) If you purchase merchandise, we collect your name, email address, shipping address, and order details to fulfill your order. This information is shared with our print-on-demand fulfillment partner (Printify or Printful) solely for the purpose of printing and shipping your order.
Contact form submissions If you contact us through a contact form or email, we collect your name, email, and whatever you write. We use it only to respond to you.
Comments If you leave a comment on an article, we collect your name, email, and IP address. Email addresses attached to comments are never published publicly. We may use Gravatar to display profile images — if you use Gravatar, their privacy policy applies to your profile image.
2. Information Collected Automatically
Analytics We use Google Analytics to understand how readers find and use the site — which articles are most-read, where traffic comes from, how long readers stay. Google Analytics uses cookies to collect this data. It is aggregated and anonymized — we see overall traffic patterns, not individual profiles. You can opt out of Google Analytics across all sites using Google’s browser add-on: tools.google.com/dlpage/gaoptout.
Server logs Our hosting provider automatically logs basic technical information when you visit — IP address, browser type, pages visited, time of visit. These logs are used for security monitoring and technical troubleshooting. They are not used for marketing.
Cookies We use cookies — small text files stored in your browser — for the following purposes:
- Essential cookies: Required for the site to function. These include session cookies (keeps you logged in during a visit), shopping cart cookies (WooCommerce), and membership authentication cookies. You cannot opt out of these without losing core functionality.
- Analytics cookies: Set by Google Analytics to track aggregate traffic patterns. You can opt out as described above.
- Preference cookies: Remember your settings, like whether you dismissed a banner or set a display preference.
- Third-party cookies: Some embedded content — including TradingView market widgets and any embedded videos — may set their own cookies. We don’t control those. Check TradingView’s privacy policy at tradingview.com/policies/ for details.
We do not use advertising cookies or behavioral tracking cookies. We do not run ads on this site.
What We Don’t Do
To be completely clear:
- We do not sell your data. Not to advertisers, data brokers, or anyone else. Ever.
- We do not run behavioral advertising. No retargeting, no ad profiles built from your browsing.
- We do not share your email with third parties for marketing purposes.
- We do not use dark patterns — no pre-checked boxes, no confusing opt-outs, no buried settings.
- We do not track you across other websites.
Who We Share Your Data With
We share your information only with the services that help us run the site:
| Service | What they receive | Why |

Every service listed above has its own privacy policy. We’ve chosen services that we believe handle data responsibly, but we encourage you to review their policies directly.

To exercise any of these rights, email: admin@baynesworld.com
We’ll respond within 30 days.
Security
We take reasonable technical measures to protect your data:
- HTTPS encryption across the entire site
- Payment data handled by PCI-compliant processors (Stripe, PayPal) — we never see your full card number
- Access to admin systems restricted and password-protected
- Regular backups via UpdraftPlus
No system is 100% secure. If you have a security concern, please email us immediately.
Children’s Privacy
Baynes World is intended for general adult audiences. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child under 13 has provided us with personal information, contact us and we will delete it promptly.
Third-Party Links
Articles on this site may link to external sources, social media posts, and official documents as part of our fact-checking process. We are not responsible for the privacy practices of those sites. We link to them for editorial purposes — as source material, not as endorsements.
Changes to This Policy
If we make material changes to this policy, we’ll post an update at the top of this page with the new effective date. For significant changes (like adding a new data collection practice), we’ll notify members by email.
The current version is always at baynesworld.com/privacy-policy.
